Dr. Julio O DE CASTRO

Dr. Julio O DE CASTRO got his Ph. D in Business Administration from University of South Carolina, USA. He is Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship Management and Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship, IE Business School, Madrid, Spain. He got over 30 years of teaching experience and 30 years of Corporate Experience. Prior to that he was the Lewis family distinguished professor of global management and professor of Entrepreneurship at Babson College, Associate Dean of Research and Professor of Strategy and entrepreneurship management at Instituto de Empresa and associate professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Julio O DE CASTRO teaches in the areas of strategy and entrepreneurship. Dr. Julio O DE CASTRO’s research examines entrepreneurial and cross-cultural aspects of firm management and strategy.  In particular, his research examines the characteristics of the process of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial failure and exits, the nature of entrepreneurship among women and Hispanics, and the nature of the entrepreneurial process in micro-enterprises. His research also examines the process of privatization of state-owned enterprises and the nature of the process of technology transfer and its effects on new venture creation, from the perspective of the firm and its strategy, and with a particular interest in Less Developed and Former Communist countries. Dr. Julio O DE CASTRO has consulted for a number of firms, both in the US and internationally, and his work has been published in such Journals as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Management Studies, the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and the Journal of High Technology Management Research, amongst others. He served on the Board of governors of the Academy of Management, is treasurer of the Ibero american Academy of Management has served on the Editorial Board of the Academy of Management Journal, is associate editor of The Journal of Small Business Management, and serves on the Editorial Board of The Journal of Management Studies, Revista de Empresa, Management Research, The Journal of High Technology Management Research, Journal of World Business, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.
