SHUMBA started in 2004 with a mission of “Developing Outstanding Whole-person and Global Local Talents People can Trust and Work with”. From 2014, we set the vision(2014-2024) as Be Influential Graduate Management Education Globally and Locally in Business World.

Shanghai University’s MBA Center (SHU MBA) is the pioneer in Whole -person and Global Local MBA Education in China. Having undergone explosive transformation since the inception in 2004, SHU MBA has delivered a new generation of MBA education through a unique and innovative teaching model. The MBA Program is devoted to developing future business leaders who can successfully manage local challenges for global entities entering China and globalizing organizations from China to integrate with the global market. These business leaders, according to SHU MBA Way, should have distinct and sustainable competitive competencies, including 1) Strong compliance with global business Ethics and Professionalism; 2) High proficiency in international business languages, especially Business English’ 3) Practical capabilities of transforming knowledge and skills; and Triple-Helix –method as a combining factor between education, business organizations and society.
In achieving the whole-person talent development, proudly, SHU MBA is one of the first MBAs in mainland China to provide systematic and credit-loaded Being-Doing-Knowing curriculum, bringing personal development and business outreach on top of professional learning. We have over 100 international quality faculties from all over the world, which comes from ECO(Education, Community and Organization). Moreover, our students also provided by the global local experience from a diversity of international students. In 2015, 62.5% of Full students are from overseas including Spain, France, Ecuador, Venezuela, Indonesia and so on.
From 2004 to the present, SHU MBA has 1135 alumni and 387 current students. According to the 2014 survey of graduates, 42% of the graduates are employed by Fortune 500 enterprises. Compared with the time of admission, the average annual salary increase is 200%.
In the past 10 years, SHUMBA made splendid achievements like Global Top 75 in CNN Expansion MBA Ranking (2016), QS Stars Business School(4 Stars) and Forbes China’s Most Valuable Part-time MBA Program (in 2014, Top 10th in Universities, Top 12th in Programs). Besides, SHU MBA has collaboration between international universities and enterprises: Joined “Principles for Responsible Management Education”（PRME）of The United Nations Global Compact in 2007; Became the 6th partner to CFA in China following Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, HongKong University of Science and Technology, and Zhongshan University; and SHU MBA is on the process of applying international and domestic accreditations, including AMBA, AACSB and CAMEA. All the awards and achievements are from our innovation and persistence in Education.
Business education is not just the university’ responsibility; it needs participation from corporate and community, to achieve synergized education. Since 2004, SHU MBA has been working closely with industry and overseas institutions. They formed the “triple helix ECO compact” of “Education, Community, and Organizations”.
For the past years, SHU MBA has more than 2000 corporate contacts, with 224 executives as community board directors and corporate mentors since 2004, and 16 out of hundreds of business organizations as the first batch of corporate partners in 2015. They have been providing more than 1200 activities, including community board program, corporate mentor program, career doctors, company visit, global business study tour, leadership forum, business plans, and business practicum, etc.
As a global local MBA program, SHU MBA has established contacts with 245 overseas institutions, including Uppsala University (top 100 worldwide), providing full range of international study opportunities, including one-to-two-week global business study tour, one or two semester exchange, half-year to one-year further degree program, etc. Nearly 60% MBA students and alumni have been travelling with SHU MBA to 16 countries or regions. Meanwhile, SHU MBA receives 10%-15% international students for exchange or degree program every year.
Since 2004, SHU MBA has a continued growing alumni network with 1135 graduates and 387 students.
